Welcome

Welcome to Sorting the Stuff of Life and Loss.

If you’re here, chances are you’ve discovered something many grieving people do: after someone you love dies, the belongings they leave behind rarely feel like “just stuff.”

An everyday object—a coffee mug, a sweater, a handwritten note, a bottle of soy sauce—can suddenly feel impossible to sort through because it’s carrying so much more than its physical weight.

This course offers a different approach. Rather than focusing on organizing or telling you what to do with your things, you’ll learn how to understand your relationship with the objects first. Through the Curating Grief® framework, you’ll explore the stories, memories, meanings, and emotions attached to belongings so that any choices you make come from care rather than pressure.

There is no timeline to follow and no expectation that you’ll finish clearing a room, a house, or a storage unit by the end of this course. Instead, you’ll gain a compassionate framework that you can return to whenever you’re ready, helping you move forward one object, one story, and one thoughtful choice at a time.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Understand why everyday belongings can feel so emotionally significant after someone dies.
  • Learn the Curating Grief® approach to working with meaningful objects after loss.
  • Explore the 4 Ss — See, Story, Select, Space — as a gentle framework for getting unstuck.
  • Recognize the stories, memories, identities, and emotions that can become attached to belongings.
  • Feel more confident making thoughtful decisions that honor both your loved one and yourself.
  • Take small, compassionate steps forward without pressure, guilt, or rushing.

Getting Support

This course is self-paced (go at your own speed) and you keep access to the lessons. It also includes one month of access to the Curating Grief Studio for live support for group coaching.
